Nació en Santa Fe, 4 de septiembre de 1921 – Buenos Aires, 18 de febrero de 20101 ), fue un músico, pianista, concertista, compositor y director argentino de un vastísimo trabajo musical.
El gobierno nacional decretó tres días de duelo nacional con motivo del fallecimiento del compositor y pianista Ariel Ramírez.Ariel Ramirez se caracterizó por su concepción abierta del folklore, permitiéndole abordar géneros musicales variados y crear obras destacadas en cada uno de ellos.
